All About Me

I began my career in the area of International Development.  After graduating from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean, I moved to Ecuador and began working in the non-profit sector.  Upon returning to the States to continue my career, I focused on the areas of advocacy for domestic violence and victims of crime.  I became interested in mental health at that time and obtained my master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina, eventually becoming a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISW-CP).  Community-building has always been central to my work, and I believe that the seed of healthy, thriving communities is the individual.

As a therapist, I view the therapeutic process as a collaborative one, working together with my clients towards the goals they set for themselves.  I have training in a variety of evidence-based practices, and I like to take an eclectic approach to therapy, tailoring the treatment to best fit the individual’s needs, with special attention paid to culture and identity.  As a nationally certified TF-CBT provider, I have expertise in treating traumatic stress in children.  I am also skilled in treating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and transitions through the life stages in adults.  I am fluent in Spanish and can provide services in Spanish as well.

In my personal life, I have a small farm where I grow produce, raise dairy goats, as well as chickens and turkeys.  I love to garden, cook, make art and music, and spend time with my family and our menagerie of farm animals.

I acknowledge that beginning therapy can be intimidating.  If you are reading this, then you have already taken the first step!  I am committed to meeting each of my clients with empathy and authenticity and I am genuinely honored to accompany my clients through the journeys where life takes them.  There is no issue too small or too big to bring into therapy, there is only starting.  You deserve it, truly.
